CHICKEN PORTOBELLO
Here’s an easy recipe for you. It can be dehydrated in ingredients or completed and then dehydrated. With anything that has meat in it, I store it in the freezer, but I’m a bit paranoid in spite of never having a problem.
Shred enough well cooked chicken for each individual. Mix together with thinly sliced portobello mushrooms and garlic. Add in thinly sliced onions if you wish. Mix it together and cook with an envelope of mushroom brown gravy and enough water to make it nice and saucy. If you dehydrate at this stage, rehydrate all as follows. If you’re rehydrating in a wide-mouth thermos, start with uncooked 3 minute broad egg noodles in the bottom and the rest of your ingredients on top. Cover with boiling water and then invert the thermos. After about twenty minutes turn it right side up to have sauce over noodles and everything should be just right.

When was the last time you took a first aid course?
Keeping your first aid skills up-to-date can make a significant difference in emergencies, both on the water and off. It might only be a fairly minor wound or a muscle or joint injury or a life threatening respiratory or cardiac arrest, for example. Know what to do and/or who to contact for assistance if needed.
There are several options available in the Victoria area with some specifically geared to marine first aid. And Club members who complete and pass a first aid course may be reimbursed $50 towards the cost of the course, subject to executive approval (SISKA Paddle Guidelines). Below are a few options (see websites for details):
Red Cross
- Course: Marine Basic First Aid (Blended: in-class and online)
